Beautiful California Garden Wedding

The Once Wed wedding blog has just featured a California Garden Wedding.

This is what the bride had to say about it:

"Our wedding took place on the charmingly time-warped island of Alameda in San Francisco’s east bay.  We had just moved to the area and fallen head over heels for its neighborhoods brimming with old Victorian homes.  The ceremony took place in a historic garden owned by the local historical society.  To keep things as simple and intimate as possible only immediate family and a handful of dear friends were in attendance.  My husband and step-father played guitar as my mother and father walked me up the aisle.  As I approached John set down his guitar to greet me—it was a magical moment.  Our pug, Alfred, was the ring bearer which made for much comic relief!  After we kissed my little brother and step-father followed us out strumming a favorite Beatles tune.  The dinner reception was held at a tiny bistro four blocks away.  We’d worked with the chef to prepare a scrumptious menu of New American delights.  Rather than one big wedding cake we opted for a selection of fresh fruit tarts and cheesecake from a bakery just down the road.  It was the most simple of occasions and the happiest day of our lives."

One of the items that caught my eye was the beautiful but simple wedding cake which featured 2 small birds sitting on the top.
