Washington DC Wedding

Lovely floral arrangements shown on this Style me Pretty blog entry

Lauren and Andreas wanted an intimate ceremony at the historic Tabard Inn to have a relaxed, vintage glamour feel. Lauren’s dress was an evening gown she purchased at Nordstrom, off the rack and on sale. She wore vintage jewelry and carried a gorgeous vintage beaded bag. The men wore grey suits with a pop of Teal for a little whimsy, and the bridesmaids dresses were very 1930′s in feel from Anthropologie. The gorgeous flowers were from Sidra Forman, and of course the venue and catering was from The Tabard Inn. Photography and invitations were by me, Jubilee Photography and Milkmaid Press. The invitations were created from a painting by Lauren’s Grandmother for an extra sentimental touch.

Georgia Wedding

You wouldn't get far using this old car on the Style Me Pretty blog as a wedding car.

Jessica and Mark’s wedding had everything. From a ridiculously in love couple, to gorgeous hand-made details, from some heartfelt emotional moments, to one of the best laughs you’ve ever heard … this past weekend goes down as one of Stacey and my favorite weddings to date for SO many reasons. The weekend’s festivities all happened at the stunning Farmhouse Inn at Hundred Acre Farm, just outside of Madison, Ga. And from the moment we pulled up to the grounds, we were greeted by beautiful scenery, and Jessica’s meticulous attention to details

San Francisco Wedding

See through bags were used for the favors rather than favor boxes at this San Francisco wedding featured on the Style Me Pretty blog.

I am so thrilled to share John and Taylor’s wedding with Style Me Pretty’s readers! I couldn’t ask for more ideal and lovely clients. We started working together a year before the wedding — picking the perfect venues for their ceremony and reception. I loved getting to know them and their parents, and their story was such a cute one. They had met and been friends at Stanford for years before dating. Taylor’s sisters kept asking her why she wasn’t dating John, and soon enough, they were!  Both John and Taylor’s families were not from the Bay Area, so this wedding was very much a destination wedding for the majority of their wedding guests. We designed custom save-the-dates from Union Street Papery featuring San Francisco icons and places that were important to them. These icons were then again used on the escort cards and wedding programs

Vintage Maine Wedding

Elegant layered wedding invitations shown on the Little Black Book blog entry.

Scott & I are Chicagoans, and love our city, but we were both more interested in having a destination wedding. I was voting for tropical, and Scott was angling for the East Coast, so it would be easier for his family to attend. We didn’t argue long about this, because the perfect venue was just sitting there, waiting for us to recognize it. My aunt and uncle own a winery in Maine, the Winterport Winery, and the special events venue attached to it, Pairings, was an intimate, cozy location for a fall wedding in New England.

Country Wedding Flowers

There is a beautiful orchid cake topper shown on this entry on the Style Me Pretty blog.

Lush centerpieces sat on top of beautiful curvy vases with white orchids submerged in water of pink hydrangea, ‘Faith’ and ‘Anna’ roses, with white cymbidium orchids submerged in water. For the low centerpieces, the same flowers were designed in a low dish and placed on footed cake dishes that Lord Thompson Manor had. The bride’s hand tied bouquet of ‘Patience’ garden roses, ivory roses and white cymbidium orchids with pink throats. We wrapped it with a wide ivory satin ribbon and detailed of French knots. The bridesmaids carried simplistic yet very pretty bouquets of ‘Cool water’, ‘Faith’ and ‘Anna’ roses. Wrapped partially with ivory satin ribbon and sheer pale pink ribbon of French knots.

Michigan Wedding

A cute wire cake topper shown on this Ruffled blog entry

We envisioned a classic vintage-rustic wedding with a cozy feel. I have a lot of respect for the women of the 1930s-1950s, they were always gorgeous, showing off their assets without being sleazy. I didn’t want it to feel like a stuffy formal event, I wanted everyone to feel like they were just in their backyard with a few good friends celebrating.

Southern California Wedding

Great outdoor wedding venue chosen for this wedding on the Style me Pretty blog

We had been engaged a little over two years by the time the big day finally arrived. Life had presented quiet a few challenges over the course of those two years…financial struggles, a minor heart surgery for me, medical issues for one of our sweet pups. We tried to approach each challenge with strength and grace and our relationship grew stronger for it. Although, our plans changed (the wedding originally was scheduled for Hawaii) in the end it was exactly how it should be. A perfect day and a true reflection of Joe and I as a couple.

Santorini Wedding

Great wedding photography shot on the Greek island of Santorini shown in this recent blog entry

Michael and I decided to get married in Santorini, Greece because we’d never been there before and wanted to honeymoon there. Santorini with a group of 50 of our closest friends and family seemed the perfect compromise between elopement and a traditional wedding celebration. My parents flew in from Taiwan, his family flew in from Austria and Germany. We wanted an intimate celebration so friends and family could really spend quality time together. We basically wanted an unforgettable party. The whole wedding was planned online, with a total of two phone calls. We’re pretty proud about that!

English Countryside Wedding

Great use of sunflowers for this wedding shown on the Style Me Pretty blog.

I stayed at Wethele with my Mum and sister, Kirstie after having a pre-wedding meal with all the bridesmaids, Mums sisters, and some of my Aunties. We had a wonderful breakfast and set off to work. The ceremony wasn’t until late afternoon so everyone worked extremely hard arranging the sunflowers, paper cranes, butterflies, fairy cakes etc. The guests arrived at 2.30 for a tea party which I heard went brilliantly despite some showers! Meanwhile Rich, his best men and ushers all got picked up in a convoy of old minis to take them to Wethele. Rich didn’t know anything about this as I had arranged it all. Rich and his friends used to all own minis, which they regularly drove around Cardiff in convoy. This was years ago, but Rich has always had a special place in his heart for his late mini, so it was a great surprise for them all. Unfortunately they parked around the back, so many guests and I never got to see them… but as I said, not all goes to plan, and the photos were fab!

North California Wedding

Fabulous wedding photography but not a bomboniere box in sight on this blog entry.

From the beginning, Ben and I knew that we wanted an outdoor wedding. As California natives, we live for sunshine and fresh air. When we found Chateau LaJoye, we instantly fell in love with the property and its owner, Joanne. The venue is in an intimate, natural setting, nestled between the rolling hills of the northern California coast. Confident in Joanne’s experience and hands-on personality, we moved our wedding up 8 months so we could get married in October, the most beautiful time of year in this part of California. Most important to us was creating a day where we could celebrate and have fun with our closest friends and family. We did not want a cookie-cutter wedding and much of our focus was on adding elements that reflected our personalities. Our unconventional side made its first appearance when our two-year-old labs, Duke and Duchess, came down the aisle as our ring bearer and flower girl. Duke wore a bowtie and carried the rings (the real ones!) on a pillow of Kermit mums strapped to his back, while Duchess wore a collar made of flowers. A close friend played our favorite song, “Tonight, Tonight” by the Smashing Pumpkins, on an acoustic guitar alongside a violinist and cellist for our processional. After the ceremony, we wanted to set the tone for the reception with some light-hearted fun: fake mustaches for the group photo!

Los Angeles Wedding

Gorgeous elegant wedding stationery shown in this entry on the Style Me Pretty blog.

July 16th, 2010 was literally the perfect day. In a month of oddly chilly days, it stood out as one of those perfect, sunny days that California knows so well. Christiana and Heath Pliler, both residents of Los Angeles, picked a priceless location in the Bel Air Bay Club to exchange their vows. This private beach club overlooks the Pacific Ocean and provides the most natural beauty as a back drop to the couple’s “I dos”. They each got ready for the big day in separate rooms at the club. It was important to them to write their own vows but they chose to exchange them privately before the ceremony and say traditional vows in front of their guests. This made for a very special and quiet moment for each of them before they were swept away by the rest of the evening.

Canadian Wedding

Fabulous rustic wedding venue shown on this blog entry.

Alex proposed on Christmas night after getting my parents’ blessing (what a gentleman!). I can’t say I was terribly surprised considering we absolutely cannot keep secrets from each other and also considering I picked out the antique (1935) post-art deco engagement ring. It was a simple and perfect proposal in my old bedroom at my parents’ farm. He had lit the room with beeswax candles and asked me to be his wife as the rain came softly down on the tin roof above. Too dreamy! We had quite an easy and stress-free planning process for the next 10 months. I did all of the planning with my right-hand woman, my Mom, and it was such an amazing bonding experience for us. Alex and I spent the months leading up to the wedding antiquing, wood-chopping, sanding, painting, chalking, and planning the day of our dreams. I styled the entire wedding with the help of borrowed antiques and linens (not to mention the gorgeous altar frames) from various family friends. I had difficulty putting the “feeling” of the day into words when people asked me what my theme was: I didn’t want the wedding to feel contrived. When it came down to it, I realized it was Woodsy Romantic that I was aiming for and I can happily say that October 16th, 2010 turned out to be just that.

Las Vegas Wedding

Great floral wedding cake topper

For months after our engagement my fiancé, Eddie, and I had procrastinated on planning the wedding. All that we were certain of was that we wanted a wedding in Las Vegas. We thought it would be nice for friends and family visiting from all over the world to enjoy a mini-vacation of their own. Who doesn’t like Vegas?! Aside from selecting a destination, planning a wedding seemed like a daunting process and we had no idea were to begin. I finally found inspiration in the most gorgeous pair of Christian Louboutin shoes. I pulled the gold and burnt orange colors from the shoes and began to design our wedding around them. My bridesmaids wore lustrous light gold dresses paired with custom freshwater pearl necklaces I designed for them. The necklaces included gold, champagne and copper colored pearls. For our wedding favors, I sewed luggage tags following a sewing pattern by StudioCherie that I bought on Etsy.com. I had never operated a sewing machine in my life, but I thought it would be fun to try. I felt it was the best way for me to create a meaningful wedding favor that reflected our passion for travelling and encompassed our personal style…unique and creative, yet practical. I chose a vibrant fabric with hues of orange and tied it off with a gold ribbon.

Philadelphia Wedding

Great example of wedding videography on this Style Me Pretty blog entry.

I met the handsome man above in a limo (!) during a mutual friend’s birthday celebration, while attending the University of West Chester, just outside of Philadelphia. After relocating to the Boston area, we entertained the idea of a New England wedding but decided to come home to beautiful Pennsylvania, where so many of our family and friends still live. We instantly fell in love with the John James Audubon Society at Mill Grove as we drove up the long, tree lined drive. This venue exudes Pennsylvania charm and has everything that we were hoping to find. Fieldstone barn (check!), Pavilion with huge fireplace (check!), Classic old estate (check!), Porch with rocking chairs (check!), Owl at the cocktail hour (BIG CHECK!) The owl definitely sealed the deal

Seattle Wedding

Great wedding images on the Style Me Pretty blog.

This wedding is the marriage of the bassist for Death Cab for Cutie (Nick Harmer) and Kate, a very talented and well known graphic designer. Their wedding was creative bliss. They incorporated their own eclectic style and craft into this in every way. These two had incredible succulents for a lot of their floral decor. Their good friends Ben Gibbard (Lead singer of Death Cab for Cutie) and Zooey Deschanel (Singer of She & Him) sang a duet that they wrote for the couple during the ceremony. When the guests arrived the couple had designed “press passes” for each guest and hand sewed their wedding logo of a heart and an anchor into personalized handkerchiefs for each of the guests. Every table at the reception had their own individual wedding cake to cut, so fun! There were so many ways these two made this wedding their own.

Lakeside Wedding

Gorgeous wedding dress shown in this blog entry by Style Me Pretty

Amanda had the best attitude of any bride. Super laid back and was constantly wanting to make sure everyone was having fun. So much so, that since it was taking people a little extra long to get the party going on the dance floor, Amanda and Ben decided to do a little wake-boarding on Gun Lake before the party really got going. Yes. This happened after dinner! ON THEIR WEDDING DAY.

Fourth Of July Wedding

Stylish wedding dress worn by this bride on the Style Me Pretty blog.

Leah and Dimitri are both talented performers of varied arts. Leah is a singer, dancer and actress who, from even the first phone call exhibited a very happy and cheerful disposition. Dimitri is a well-traveled and respected tenor and happened to be performing opera in Germany while the wedding planning was going on stateside.

Leah and Dimitri met in the summer of 2006 while working in Santa Fe, New Mexico. While walking towards each other on a one way street in the downtown plaza, she saved his life by pulling him out of the way of oncoming traffic behind him. The rest is history.

Toronto Wedding

Whimsical cake toppers featured in this wedding on the Style Me Pretty blog.

This all began when Ray proposed to me in Copenhagen back in January 2009. Although we decided to take some time to plan our wedding and set the big day for September 2010, I immediately began researching and gathering ideas for our wedding. We wanted to have a wedding that truly reflects who we are – simple and natural. Since we decided to go without a wedding planner, many of our friends and family members kindly offered to assist us in our wedding preparation. My Maid of Honour, Sandy, even created an in-depth cost/benefit analysis for hosting our wedding in Hong Kong (our hometown), Bali (for destination wedding), and Toronto (our adopted hometown)! After some careful deliberation, we finally settled on having an outdoor wedding at the Miller Lash House in Toronto. After we decided on our location, we needed to finalize on a theme to ensure that everything will tie together in one coherent theme. This was a very important and difficult part of the process since we liked many different ideas; yet, those ideas didn’t always go together.

Boca Grande Wedding

This beautiful destination wedding was located on the quaint island of Boca Grande, Florida. The welcome reception included a warm fire pit with a s’more station and ice cream treats. The ceremony was held in the newly renovated St. Andrews Episcopal Church, which had an antique flair lit by brass lanterns which created a homey feeling among all who attended. The finishing touch to the pews were hydrangea and ribbon. The red door to enter the chapel was adorned with a starfish made up of white floral blooms.

Rhode Island Wedding

Great wedding shots at this Newport, Rhode Island wedding featured on the Style Me Pretty blog.

Sarah & Jeremy were married August 7, 2010 in Newport, Rhode Island.  Sarah and Jeremy live in NYC and hired Raina Dawn Events to coordinate their destination wedding weekend.  The weekend kicked off with a rehearsal dinner at The White Horse Tavern on Friday night after guests checked into the Hotel Viking.  Newport was buzzing that weekend with the Jazz Festival in town and everyone was lucky because come Saturday there was the most perfect summer Newport weather!

Wedding At The Wildflower Centre

How about using a wildflower centre as an unusual wedding venue

Jackie, Nick and their families were such a pleasure to work with! You would have never known it was raining cat and dogs on their wedding day…and at The Wildflower Center no less! Their completely outdoor wedding changed on a moments notice as tents had to be brought in and with the ceremony and cocktail reception moving indoors. The wedding party handled everything with such grace it made the wedding that much more beautiful!

Mill Valley Wedding

Some great ideas went into the planning of this wedding.

Once we found our hidden estate in Milly Valley, the wedding’s style seemed to fall into place. I am incredibly lucky to have a talented husband who was able to turn all my ideas into reality. He created our wedding logo and incorporated it into all aspects of our wedding from our invitation suite he created to our desserts, everything was branded with our love! We have custom made pine boxes engraved with our logo for our centerpieces- I couldn’t have loved these more, and they are great storage boxes for everyone who took one home. Keeping with our keys in our logo, we bought lots of vintage keys off ebay and tied catalog tags stamped with our logo tied with twin as our escort cards. I also tied keys around glass bottles that were on the tables for water and around terrariums I made from apothecary jars and succulents. My husband and I made all the paper goods from ideas for wedding blogs. In lieu of a guest book we had a photo wall my husband made with a tripod set up with instructions to leave a note on the chalkboard then snap away. We had a traditional Persian ceremony. I love the idea that I got married the same way my sister, mother, and grandmother did. As tradition, I had four of my closest friends holding fabric over our heads while married women came up during the ceremony and ground sugar over our heads to pass sweetness on to us.

Conneticut Wedding

Terrific wedding images featured in this entry on the Style Me Pretty blog.

Our story begins in the tiny town of Falls Village, Connecticut, where a fateful convergence of philosophy, a chilly November night, a bonfire, and shooting stars paved a moonlit path to our humble beginnings.  Both of us had participated separately in a Jewish organic farming program but we didn’t meet until the program’s reunion in November 2005.  At the time, Jenna was living in San Francisco, while Aaron was in Columbus, Ohio, so from the West Coast and the Heartland, we both made the journey to Falls Village for the Reunion, where we spent three days hiking, learning, planting, and eating, and somewhere in the midst of it all we met and, under a star-studded sky by the glow of a bonfire, we fell in love.

Ranch Wedding

A beautiful 3 tiered wedding cake is featured in this entry on the Ruffled blog.

Kendra and Chris are high school sweethearts who got married at a ranch in the Santa Cruz mountains this summer. The decorations, setting, clothing, and events were fun and lighthearted with lots of bright colors. The bridesmaids chose their own dresses and colors, there were dahlias everywhere, and the checkered tablecloth and striped decor feel gave the wedding a cozy retro vibe.

Traditional Church Wedding

Sometimes a traditional venue is the best venue.

Christine and Steve proved that a classic and traditional wedding can be stunning! They were married at St. Clement’s Church in Cambridge Ontario in one of the most beautiful ceremonies ever. Christine wore a drop. dead. gorgeous ruffled gown and her shoes could have made an entrance all on their own! Her fall colour palette complimented the season perfectly! Despite the wet weather we clung to our original plan of shooting at a near by apple orchard. Well worth the wet feet, I think! Every single detail of this wedding was immaculate and I think Christine has proved that a traditional indoor event can still drop your jaw!
