Block Island Wedding

One of the first things you must do when planning a wedding is decide on your Sydney wedding venue. You will be hard pressed to find a venue as stunning as the one featured in this recent entry on the Style Me Pretty blog.

“Our wedding involved several DIY projects with a professional florist and Sean from the Sullivan House to help facilitate each idea. It was important to me that my Mom and I actually worked on putting items together for the wedding as we have  always loved arts and crafts projects. I wanted everything to go  together but didn’t necessarily want it to match. I’ve never been one  to buy an entire set of anything let alone 110. I also couldn’t let  someone else have all the fun of putting the wedding together!

Given that the wedding was on Block Island we wanted to keep it beach  shabby chic (we even decided to forego traditional wedding cake and  instead had strawberry short-cake and petit fours) . We purchased or borrowed everything on our own from chinese lanterns to starfish. We  used small starfish for seating cards, hundreds of yards of mis-matched ribbons and antique wooden boxes that my mother turned into sand boxes to hold all of the seating cards. We used large spiney starfish which became table number holders after hours of patient and  skilled sawing from my husband and various silks and handmade papers to create the table numbers. We also purchased large jars for sangria to be displayed and created our donation in lieu of favors cards through wedding paper divas.

See all the details.
